Fire doors

To perfectly finish properly functioning fire protection system doors should be provided corresponding to the applicable standard. Dyrektywa 89/106/EEC, determines, that the construction works must be designed and constructed in such a way, in the event of a fire, m.in.:

  • the generation and spread of fire and smoke within the works are limited,
  • residents could leave the object

Guided by the above subsections doors shall comply with the rules relating to the limitation of the spread of fire and streamlining the possible evacuation.

Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of 12 April 2002 r. on the technical, be met by buildings and their location says, that occur in the walls of the holes should be closed by means of fire doors.

Typical fire doors and smoke-tight or The following are equipped with fittings:

  • uniaxial hinges, including spring;
  • mechanical locks with catches, the most ratchet or latch-bolt locks;
  • Strikes Controlled door closing;
  • the tabs, electric door opening;
  • Door handles and wheels;
  • closing Panic exit devices operated by a horizontal bar;
  • Closing Emergency exit devices operated by a lever handle or push pad;
  • regulators Door coordinator devices (only for double door);
  • cylinder liner.

Below we set guidelines for the appropriate components fire doors:

Electric opening detainer:

  • should be integrated in the door assembly, which meets the criteria of fire tests

Closing controller:

  • should not include door restraint in the open position unless, it is electrically powered detainer

  • should be incorporated into the door assembly, to meet the criteria of fire tests

  • shall meet the requirements specified in the standard PN-EN 1154:1999

Door Closer:

  • should be able to close the door trial from every angle, which can be opened.

  • should not include door restraint in the open position, unless it is electrically powered device

  • should be concealed or should give a start just by using

  • Door closer door design should be such that, without the use of tools to in any way was not possible to suspend the operation of the closing

  • any built-retardants should give a set to less than 25 s, between the closing of the door angle 120 ° and the end of the deceleration zone.

Single-axis hinges:

  • No part of the hinge component (with the exception of decorative elements, as shields, caps, etc.) or its attachment should not be lower than the melting temperature of 800 ° C

  • hinges should be installed only in such door, which meet the criteria to fire resistance tests

  • it should not be possible to remove or disconnect the hinge pin mounted on a hinged door element, without special tools.

Mechanical locks with catches

  • should be subjected to, with positive results, tests on both sides, in accordance with PN-EN 1634-1:2002, in order to test the contribution of the fire resistance of the product in complete sets of door

  • where there is a snap-lock feature, pawl return force should be less than 2,5 N and it should not be possible to halt snap function differently, than controlled latch key.

Panic exit devices operated by a horizontal bar, lever handle or push pad:

  • should be treated - with positive results - the study galvanizing

  • should include automatic latching mechanism

  • should not contain, or other retaining mechanism for retaining the bolt means in the retracted position, if such measures are not able to reliably release the lock in conjunction with the fire alarm system

Cylinders for locks

  • should be classified into the following two groups:
    – classes 0
    – classes 1

  • should be subjected to, with a positive result, fire tested according to European standard EN 1634-1:2002

Klamki i Galka

  • should be built into the door assembly, to meet the criteria of fire tests according to PN-EN 1634-1:2002

  • should only be installed in door assemblies to meet specific fire tests at the door of the same construction, shape and dimensions
