The main causes of wooden building fires are:
-
arson
-
defects in electrical equipment
-
lightning
-
disadvantages of heating devices
Means for protecting wood the fire can be impregnaty (Composites are designed to dissolve salt in water, means of water-borne and solvent agents) and fire retardant coatings (so-called intumescent paint). They provide comprehensive protection against ignition of wood while protecting against biological corrosion and insects. These preparations always increase the mechanical properties of wood. It is worth noting, that they have the least effect on subsequent adhesive bonding or painting the wood. Wood retains its structure, not impeding access and air infiltration.
Fire protection timber should:
-
convert wood and other wood-based materials in noninflammatory or low or no susceptibility to fire, Euroklasa A2/B-s1-d0 wg testów SBI AND 13823 i EN ISO 11925-2 – EN 13501:2010)
-
effectively protect the wood both inside and outside
-
after complete drying of the product should become resistant to leaching
-
allow coverage of selected decorative coatings: colors, lacquers
-
prevent the growth of fungi, pleśni, blue stain and insect
-
do not change the color of the wood
-
be ecologically safe, not exhibit the properties of toxic and carcinogenic
